One word to describe this hotel: TOP! Warm welcome and service, amazing views (check out our pics on TripAdvisor), delicious food... We stayed for six nights at half board: buffet available most nights (depending on number of guests in this COVID-19 season) and always a choice in case dinner was a la carte. We also had the option of requesting (in advance) a different meal if we wished (meal choices are advertised on the board at reception early in the morning). We also enjoyed the different achards, such as confit aubergine (which you can order from the hotel-you won't find this in the Port Mathurin market!) and limon as well as the local sucreries such as gato coco and gato pistache.
Fair warning: no TV, telephone, or WiFi are available in the rooms, which was not a problem for us as we desperately needed a break where we were ""disconnected"" and we had plenty to do/visit on the island during the day. The view from our rooms was distraction enough and we spent several evenings walking or talking to each other while enjoying the view over a nice cup of tea.
Another plus for this hotel is that it's always slightly windy there so you never feel the heat-we did not need the fan or AC that are available in the rooms!
Mourouk is under the supervision of Mr Nanda Appadoo who has clearly given un nouveau souffle to this establishment since late last year. He welcomes all his guests personally when they arrive and even took the time to interact with all of us at dinner time and gave us advice on what we should see/do/buy (or not!). Of note, the hotel is closing on Jan 10, 2020 for renovations for more than 1 year to double the number of rooms and equip them with the latest amenities such as WiFi and TVs while retaining the trademark red roofs. I urge those who need a break from the hustle and bustle of their daily lives in Mauritius to take advantage of the ongoing promos and visit Rodrigues and stay at Mourouk while they still can. You can thank me later with a pot de Miel Victoria or confit d'aubergine!

Car Rental Conditions:
- Reservations: Call merchant directly to select date and time (subject to availability)

- Returning car: Car must be returned on date and time specificed by merchant. Late return will entitle merchant to charge an additional day
Customer Conditions:
- No Cancellation policy: Once a booking is paid for, there are no refunds
- No-shows will be charged total rate; no refunds, rescheduling, or re-booking allowed
- ID card, passport, resident or work permit must be shown by all customers upon arrival, failure to do so will entitle the Merchant to charge the applicable rate

Force Majeure:
- Lockdown protocol: If a booking falls within a Lockdown period/Government restriction, it will automatically be cancelled and refunded as a store credit in your MariDeal account only
- Cyclone protocol: If a booking falls within Cyclone Class 3 or above, the reservation will automatically be cancelled and will be refunded in the form of store credit to your MariDeal account
