La Belle Rodriguaise is a family run hotel of 14 rooms on the hillside above the Graviers lagoon, at Var Brulé on the south east coast of Rodrigues, set up in 2009 by the Baptiste family. Every room is air conditioned and looks out over the lagoon from a private balcony. Rodriguan home cooking is the centre of a stay here: breakfast and dinner use island produce, and the hotel runs cooking classes on Rodriguan food. The lagoon below is one of the island's kitesurfing spots. The hotel runs on solar panels, collects rainwater, treats its own wastewater and grows food by aquaponics.
